‘Baby trafficking ring behind disappearance of Tembisa 10’
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
An investigation by Independent Media into the birth of 10 babies by Gosiame Sithole has found that they were the victims of a human trafficking syndicate operating at various state hospitals.
The media house, which first broke the story of the miraculous birth of 10 babies by 37-year-old Gosiame Sithole released its final investigative report on Wednesday.
According to the report, the mother gave birth to ten babies at Tembisa Hospital but two of them died.
Eight of the babies were then transported to Steve Biko Hospital.
Independent Media chairperson Dr Iqbal Survé, who presented the report, claims medical staff, politicians and government officials were all involved in the trafficking of the ten babies.
“She was taken to Sunninghill hospital in about January where she was introduced to a sponsored doctor who said to her that he would make sure that she delivers at a private hospital. The doctor that she saw is known to us and his name will be revealed in the series, all I can tell you he is a Nigerian doctor.
Survé claims doctors and nurses at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Tembisa Hospital and Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital are complicit in the delivery and subsequent cover-up of the birth of the babies.
“There has been gross medical negligence, in that not sufficient doctors were present for these multiple births, with only four doctors in attendance when there should have been at least 25 medical personnel.
“No working incubators were available and furthermore, that there was a misdiagnosis in that two of the babies who were outside the womb in the fallopian tubes were only discovered during surgery.”
#Tembisa10 Surve says the Nigerian doctor was using a different name, which makes it difficult for anyone to find him.
