Bad habits of the mother body shouldn’t be found in the new ANCYL: Mahambehlala
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The task team set up to prepare for an African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) elective conference has warned against the use of money when campaigning to lead the league.
The task team’s convener Tandi Mahambehlala briefed the media on the progress it’s made at the party’s Luthuli House headquarters on Monday.
The league was disbanded by the ANC at its National Executive Committee in Pretoria a few weeks ago and Mahambehlala was appointed as convenor.
The funding of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s campaign to lead the party has been in the headlines since an adverse finding against him by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane and the leaking of emails containing the funders’ names to the media.
Mahambehlala was adamant that the bad habits of the ANC should not be found in the new youth league.

“Because we want a youth league that will be the voice of young people of South Africa, even professionals.”
She added the ANCYL has two mandates, of which one is mobilising the youth under the banner of the ANC.
“And ensure the youth league champions the interest of young people respective of affiliation.”
