BASA's comments follow steps to remove all Eskom executives facing allegations of corruption, including Matshela Koko and Anjoj Singh.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa announced changes to the power utility's board on Saturday, recommending the appointment of Phakamani Hadebe as acting group CEO.

BASA's Cas Coovadia says it's critical for the newly-appointed board to institute criminal charges against officials implicated in fraud and corruption.

"What we need is a creditable National Prosecuting Authority that seriously follow up these cases, investigate them to the full and whoever is found to be responsible, from the very top to the very bottom, must account.

"Whether you are working for a SOE or as a minister responsible, whoever involved in that entire value chain; if they are found through investigation to have acted unlawfully, the full might of the law must take its course."

Singh is set to appear before Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises next week.
