Ramaphosa launched phase two of the Business and Government Partnership in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The partnership was established over a year ago with the aim of securing progress in energy, transport, and logistics and combating crime and corruption as enablers of economic growth and job creation.

Ramaphosa has faced criticism and pushback by some parties in the national unity government over some of his new laws, including amendment to the Basic Education Laws Act, as well as the National Health Insurance, which was also rejected by the business sector.

"But all this represents that we are moving forward, we are definitely on a forward movement path,” the president said.

"What these shifts demonstrate is that the actions that we have taken as a country over the past five years are definitely making a difference.

"We are not stuck in a rut, we are not stuck in one place. We are a country that is moving forward.

"And we are moving forward largely because we have been brave enough to embrace one another,

to form partnerships with business, with labour, and with civil society," Ramaphosa continued.

He said government has also made progress in removing the country from the grey listing from the Financial Action Task Force.

The global financial watchdog, greylisted the country a two years ago.

This was due to failures by the government to enforce international standards and regulations pertaining to anti-money laundering and terrorist financing.

"We have also made real progress in strengthening our law enforcement agencies and reversing the effects of state capture.

"This work is helping to entrench the rule of law and create a predictable environment for investment, we have doubled our efforts to remove our country from the FATF grey list.

"We are working together to rebuild the investigative and prosecutorial capabilities of the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority,"

he added.
