Benoni court convicts man of 400 rapes, possession of child porn
The High Court siting in Benoni has convicted a 41-year-old man on 426 counts of rape.
He pleaded guilty to all charges, including the use of a child for pornography, and production of child pornography.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says the man raped his two stepsons and daughter from 2012 onwards.
He was arrested in February last year after one of the children confided in a family relative.
“These offences took place in their home when the mother of the children was at work and the children were left in his care. When at work he would often ask the minor boys to take pictures of their sister’s private parts and send them to him for his pleasure,” says Mahanjana.
The case has been postponed to 7 April for sentencing.
