Bodies of SA drowning victims back on home soil
Updated | By Thabo Tshabalala
The bodies of the four young South Africans, who drowned in Mozambique 10 days ago, arrived back in South Africa on Wednesday.
The four were part of a group of young people who celebrated a birthday on the Portuguese Island in Mozambique.
According to the Limpopo government, the four were overpowered by a wave while swimming in the sea.
Family spokesperson Bongani Diako says the uncertainty during the search for the bodies added to the pain experienced by the next-of-kin.
"The bodies of Lesego Matsepe (20), Gregory Mfune (27), David Kaise (29) and Mmatholo Mogafe (24) arrived in South Africa today (Wednesday).
" We arrived at 7 o'clock in the morning. From here, the bodies will be dispatched to the different areas where the families reside."
"The families' pain extended to fellow South Africans who kept up to date with the search in the neighbouring country," says Diako.
The four will be laid to rest in their respective provinces on Saturday and Sunday.
