The body, that had been badly burnt, was found by a farmer in a cane field yesterday.

The 20-year-old was last seen outside her place of work in Margaret Maytom Avenue a week ago.

Lee's disappearance prompted a massive search involving police, private investigators and security companies.

SAPS spokesperson Thulani Zwane says Lee's family had travelled to the New Hanover Police Station today to try and identify the body.

"We can confirm that the family of the missing 20-year-old woman went to the police station today to try and identify the body. Although the family identified the body, we as police will await for the postmortem results," he said.

Zwane says DNA results are expected in the coming days.

"We will take some samples from the family members as well as samples from the body and send them to forensics to check for a match," he said.

Police issued an identikit of a man they believe has information on Lee's abduction earlier today.
