Roger Solik and his wife Christine were assaulted and kidnapped from their Bend Country Estate by armed robbers on Friday morning.

Police were alerted to the crime after a neighbour noticed their home had been broken into.

57-year-old Christine's badly-beaten body was discovered later that day in a river in Impendle - some 70 kilometres away from her home.

A frantic search for 66-year-old Roger ensued shortly after, with police confirming that his body was found on Monday.

On Sunday, the Solik family launched a social media appeal for their father's safe return - saying he suffered from Parkinson's Disease, and was dependent on daily chronic medication.

SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says Roger Solik's body was located close to where his wife's body had been found.

"The Pietermaritzburg Search and Rescue team were called-out to Impendle to recover the possible body of a male that was kidnapped last week in Nottingham Road. The body was found 3 kilometres from where the woman's body was found on Friday - in the Impendle River," she said.

Gwala is appealing to anyone with information to contact the police. She says a case of murder has been opened at the Impendle SAPS, and that police are working around-the-clock to locate the suspects.
