Jemina Duba, 51, was reported missing on Wednesday when her family became concerned after they could not reach her.

Police investigations led to the home of a man said to be Duba's boyfriend in Clewer near Emalahleni.

"Upon arrival, they found a man referred to as her boyfriend who reportedly informed them (police) that he last saw her on 25 August 2022. Thereafter the man left. Police searched in the house without any success but later discovered something sinister outside the house, when they checked around the yard, they saw a pit toilet piled up with soil", said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala.

The woman's body was retrieved from the pit toilet following efforts by experts and various units within the police's search and rescue team.

“Preliminary investigation had uncovered that the deceased had a wound on the upper body and some bruises", Mohlala added.

Duba's alleged boyfriend and his landlord were taken in for questioning after a murder case was registered by the police.
