WATCH & LISTEN: Here's a recap of this morning's top news stories.
MASS SHOOTING IN USA: At least 14 people were killed in a shooting at a holiday party in California on Wednesday, triggering a massive manhunt which ended when police shot dead two heavily armed suspects -- a man and a woman -- on a quiet residential street. San Bernardino police chief Jarrod Burguan said a third suspect had been detained, but it was unclear whether that person was linked to the shooting, which took place at a centre in the city for those with developmental disabilities just before lunch time. The attack was the latest in a series of mass shootings in the United States, a spiral of violence that has exasperated President Barack Obama, who once again urged Congress to pass tougher gun control measures.
JUDGEMENT IN OSCAR PISTORIUS CASE EXPECTED: In South Africa its judgement day yet again for Oscar Pistorius. The Supreme Court of Appeal will deliver its verdict on whether the Paralympian is guilty of murder after the State's appeal last month to have his conviction changed from culpable to homicide for the death of Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius spent a year behind bars and is serving the rest of his five year sentence under correctional supervision but if Prosecutor Gerrie Nel convinced the judges in Bloemfontein - he could go back to prison - something his defence advocate, Barry Roux tried to prevent. Maryke Vermaak reports from Bloemfontein.
