Tshwane Mayor Cillers Brink on Friday announced the appointment of the metros new mayoral committee members.
Addressing the media Brink stated that the new MMC’s were chosen after careful consideration.
“The new administration is committed to building a capital city that works for all its people by improving basic services, ensuring strong financial management and addressing unscheduled power outages, among other priorities.”
This follows after Brink was elected mayor on Tuesday after nearly three weeks of the city being without a mayor.
Brink outlined his five core priorities that will ensure that the city fast tracks service delivery for all.
- Prioritise the City’s finances and stability by devising and implementing a bold recovery plan that focuses on the core functions of the municipality.
- Reduce the number of unscheduled water and electricity outages, invest in our core infrastructure and mitigate the effects of load-shedding.
- Improve basic services pertaining to pothole repairs, street light maintenance, grass cutting and public cleaning.
- Secure infrastructure assets, main roads and business nodes against criminals by improving the focus and functioning of the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
- Instill high levels of productivity and professionalism in City officials through appropriate performance management systems.
“We have tight deadlines such as the Adjustment Budget and the Draft Budget for the 2023/24 financial year. So, we must stay focused and put the interests of Tshwane residents ahead of everything else,” said Brink.
The appointment included members affiliated to Action SA, Democratic Alliance, Freedom Front Plus and the IFP parties.
