Brixton electricity restored ‘within four days’ - City Power
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says it could take up to four days to restore the electricity supply to Brixton and surrounding areas.

The area has been without power since a fire gutted the Brixton transformer substation on Sunday evening.
Affected areas include Brixton and Rossmore.
"The fire affected several areas including Joburg Water. However, at Joburg Water, we managed to back feed them with another source of power so they are currently able to pump water into their reservoirs around Brixton,” says City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena.
Mangena says preparations are still ongoing ahead of the installation of two mini substations in the area.
"Work continued overnight in Brixton where we lost the whole transformer substation due to the fire. The contractor managed to do the trenching and exposed some of the cables as repair work continues.
"The contractor will continue digging to ensure that we expose additional cables and prepare the ground for the installation of the two 500KVA mini substations and ring main unit which will replace the whole structure."
He says overnight rain on Monday has also led to slight delays.
"Unfortunately rain briefly interrupted our work last night but the delays didn't really affect the timeline as we are still set to restore electricity in the next four days."
