Brother of victim reveals details of alleged assault by Mduduzi Manana
The brother of the woman who was allegedly assaulted by Deputy Minister of Education Mduduzi Manana has spoken to Jacaranda FM News.
Phesheya Duma says they were at Cubana as a family, with Mduduzi Manana and a group of friends sitting at the table next to them.
"We were having a succession debate. We were debating on who would be the best candidate between Nkosaza Dlamini Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa.
"Manana is a Ramaphosa person, while we felt Nkosazana is the ideal candidate."
Duma says that is where the tension started, although there were no signs of hostility.
He says that when he decided to leave the club his sisters stayed behind.
"My sisters got into an argument that resulted in one of them getting slapped.
"My sisters then left the vicinity, but Mduduzi and his colleagues followed them into the parking lot and began assaulting and kicking them," Duma claims.
In a recorded conversation between Duma and a man purporting to be Manana, the man admits a slapping a woman but denies involvement in the incident outside the restaurant.
Charges of assault have been pressed against Manana at the Douglasdale Police Station.
