Heymans was arrested on Friday evening alongside two accomplices in Kliprivier, Johannesburg.

The crime-fighting unit says the arrest follows a two-year investigation into an alleged terrorist plot in which the group targeted national key points, shopping malls and informal settlements.

National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) spokesperson in Mpumalanga Monica Nyuswa says the matter was postponed until next year.

"The matter has been postponed to 21 January 2020 for further investigations."
