Clicks to continue operating, 'contingency plans put in place'

Health and beauty retailer Clicks says it will be business as usual on Monday morning despite plans by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to shut down its stores countrywide.

Clicks issued a statement on Sunday evening, saying the retailer’s 880 shops will be trading as normal.
“Clicks provides a much needed healthcare service to South Africans and stores will not be closed. Contingency plans have been put in place to ensure the safety of both customers and staff."
Clicks also said “has taken full accountability and apologised unreservedly for the advertisement published on its website and has taken immediate action to address all concerns".
On Friday, the retailer came under fire for labelling black people’s hair as “dry, damaged, frizzy and dull”, while the hair of white people was described as “normal” in the ad campaign.

The EFF rejected to apology by Clicks and responded by announcing its leaders will be sent to Clicks stores in various provinces from 9am on Monday morning.
EFF leader Julius Malema will be deployed to Mall of the North in Polokwane, the party's deputy president Floyd Shivambu will be at Sandton City, while secretary-general Marshall Dlamini will be at the Mall of Africa in Midrand.
