Closing down of Greyhound ‘regrettable’ - Cosatu
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has described the closing down of Greyhound and Citiliner bus services as regrettable.
The fleet company, which has been on operation for more than 30 years, announced on Wednesday that services will only run until 14 February.
The trade union federation’s spokesperson Sizwe Pamla says many families will be left without an income.
"We are going to see a number of retrenchment but overall the transport industry, which is going to be greatly affected," says Pamla.
He adds the country needs a reliable, sustainable and integrated public transport system.
"We are going to struggle because the transport system is important in turning the ways of the economy."
