Competition Commission set to release report into school uniforms
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The Competition Commission says a report into possible school uniform price fixing will hopefully be made public soon.

Those under investigation include school principals, uniform manufacturers and School Governing Bodies (SGB).
The probe follows complaints about the high prices of school uniforms and the seemingly uncompetitive nature of the sector.
The Competition Commission's Sipho Nqwema says the purchasing of school uniforms by principals and SGB's do not always follow government regulations.
He says government has given specific instructions to schools, but more that 30% of principles and SGB's are claiming ignorance.
"It prescribes and gave instructions in terms of purchasing of school uniforms. It says it [school uniforms] must be generic as possible, available at as many suppliers as possible, must be a fix term contract but also exclusive uniforms must be kept to be a minimum."
Ngwema says they came across a supply agreement dating back to 1974, which shows the uncompetitive nature of school uniform sector.
"What we support as the Competition Commission is that the contracts awarded must done in a fair bidding process, tenders must be issued out, and those who wish to participate can be able to also tender.
"I must emphasise that the business of school is to educate."
