Cops linked to Nathaniel Julies murder to appear in court
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The three police officers charged with the murder of Eldorado Park teen Nathaniel Julies will appear in the High Court in Johannesburg Park for a pre-trial conference on Friday.
Julies, who lived with downs syndrome, was shot dead last August just meters away from his home.
His death sparked outrage in the community.
Scorpion Ndyalvane, Cayleen Whiteboy, and Voster Netshiongolo are facing charges including murder, possession of illegal ammunition and defeating the ends of justice.
They were arrested shortly after Julies’ death and have all since been granted bail.
Netshiongolo is accused of planting bullets at the scene of Nathaniel’s murder to make it look as if there had been an earlier confrontation between police and local gang members.
The state also believes Netshiongolo covered the teenager’s blood at the scene.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) in Gauteng will attend Friday’s court proceedings.
“Ipid remains committed in its constitutional mandate of policing the police and ensuring justice for victims of alleged police misconduct,” it said in a statement.
