More than 30 local artists, who were arrested during a protest on the N3 in Durban on Wednesday, have been granted bail of R1000 each.
KwaZulu-Natal police arrested dozens of artists and service providers in the entertainment industry following a protest on the highway on Wednesday.
They want government to increase the crowd capacity at live events to 70% from the current allowance of 50 people under level 2 of the lockdown.
They say the months-long coronavirus lockdown's made it difficult to earn a living.
Police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the entertainers are facing charges under the Illegal Gatherings Act and Traffic Act.
"A total of 12 vehicles were impounded for further investigations and the suspects were each granted bail of R1000 each. They are expected to appear in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.”
