Court hears testimony on coffin assault as accused apply for bail
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Middelburg Magistrate's Court is hearing arguments for bail to be granted to two locals who were arrested for assaulting and forcing a man into a coffin.
Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Jackson forced Victor Mlotshwa into a coffin on a Mpumalanga farm.
Investigating Officer Dimakatso Bahula is testifying through an interpreter in the Middelburg Magistrates Court.
"His younger brother showed him the video. He managed to identify himself. He was hurt and in shock that the whole world is watching this," says Bahula.
Bahula testified on the particulars of Mlotswa's statement.
"His hands were fastened around a tow bar. Accused number two opened the coffin from the front and instructed the victim to get inside. Accused number two advised the victim that 'if you try to run away, I'm going to shoot you'," says Bahula.
Supporters have been gathering outside court since early this morning.
