Court postpones bail bid of Hillary Gardee murder accused
Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
The bail application of one of the three suspects accused of the murder
of Hillary Gardee has been postponed in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court.
Proceedings in the bail application of Albert Gama had to be postponed on Monday due to Magistrate Edward Horn feeling unwell.
Gardee’s body was discovered in April outside a plantation kilometres away from her home in Mbombela.
The case has been postponed to August 16.
Provincial NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa says another suspect, Sipho Mkhatshwa, was denied bail when he appeared in the same court last week.
“The court accepted arguments from the State there was a potential of interference with witnesses and a possibility Mkhatshwa may flee to eSwatini, where he had relatives.
“Philemon Lukhele, 47, has not applied for bail after all three initially abandoned their bail applications at the beginning of the case.”
Gardee is the daughter of former EFF secretary-general turned attorney Godrich Gardee.
