Court suspends Mkhwebane's remedial actions against Gordhan
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has successfully interdicted the enforcement of Public Protector Busiswe Mkhwebane's remedial actions against him.
The suspension of the remedial action is pending Gordhan's application to review the report into the South African Revenue Service’s so-called rogue unit.
Judge Sulet Potterill handed down judgment in the high court in Pretoria on Monday.
In her judgment, Potterill said Mkhwebane's remedial actions are not urgent as this matter is a decade old.

She said the consequences of implementing the remedial actions before there is an outcome in the review application would cause irreparable harm for Gordhan.
"The harm to Gordhan in that he must be disciplined by the president, appear before the parliamentary ethics committee and be criminally investigated by the commissioner of police himself has serious consequences for him. The report maligns him as being untruthful and a spy and would impact his political career and personal circumstances.”
Potterill also decribed Mkhwebane's orders in the report as vague, contradictory or nonsensical.
