Covid-19 deaths surpass 14 000
South Africa’s Covid-19 related deaths have increased to more than 14 000.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Sunday evening show that the deadly virus has claimed 14 028 lives since the beginning of the pandemic in March.
In the latest 24-hour period, 47 deaths were reported – which is the lowest daily increase in several weeks.

Gauteng has reported 16 deaths, 11 deaths are from Mpumalanga, the Eastern and Western Cape have each recorded 7 deaths, while KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State have each recorded 3 deaths.
The number of cumulative Covid-19 cases stand at 625 056 - with 2 505 newly identified cases.
The national coronavirus recovery rate is on 86%.
