Covid-19 delays Omotoso bail ruling to November

Judgment in the two applications brought by Nigerian Pastor Timothy Omotoso has been postponed in the Port Elizabeth High Court.
His application has failed several times.
Omotoso is facing 97 charges ranging from rape, sexual assault and human trafficking.

The controversial pastor charged alongside church members Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho.
One of the applications relates to the ongoing delays in his trial and the second was a bail application based on new facts.
Judgment on the bail application of Pastor Timothy Omotoso has been postponed to 04 Nov 2020. Omotoso is currently on 10-day quarantine after coming into contact with an official at the PE High Court who tested positive for Covid-19.

Main trial also postoned to 4 Nov 2020.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Eastern Cape says it will now be handed down on November 4.
Spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani says some of the officials from the High Court have tested positive for Covid-19.
"The judgment for the bail application has been postponed to the 4th of November, reason being that some official tested positive in the PE High Court, therefor, Pastor Omotoso is undergoing quarantine.”
