DA lays charges against Musina municipal manager
The
Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo says the sewage treatment plant declined
under the municipality’s leadership.
They laid the criminal charges at the police station in Musina against the municipal Manager for Musina on Friday
“Under the stewardship of the present municipal manager and his predecessors in title, the Musina Municipality allowed its sewage treatment plant to deteriorate into a state of total disrepair,” says the partu’s Risham Maharaj.
Maharaj says that despite consistent pleas and complaints, the municipality has failed to solve the problem of raw untreated sewage in the area.
“The result of this is that all the sewage for our municipality’s more than 100 000 inhabitants is not treated and simply flows straight through the remaining facilities at the plant before being dumped into pools that seep into the environment below the plant and then into biospheres.”
The party were set to picket outside the municipal offices on Friday.
