The DA claims that the ANC forged the signatures of at least seven of its council members in an attempt to convene an illegal council meeting to remove the speaker of council.

DA deputy chief whip in Tshwane Mpho Mehlape-Zimu told reporters at the Brooklyn Police station on Monday that the party has laid seven charges of fraud against the ANC.

"We are going to lay seven charges of fraud, against Aaron Maluleke and the leadership of the ANC. According to our analysis and our own internal investigation we do accept that there may be a case of fraud where the ANC may have allegedly forged at least seven signatures of their councillors.”

The Tshwane council will convene a special meeting on Thursday, when a motion of no confidence will be tabled in an attempt to oust mayor Stevens Mokgalapa and speaker Katlego Mathebe.
