DA to table motion to impeach President Jacob Zuma
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane confirmed on Friday the main opposition would go ahead with a motion to impeach President Jacob Zuma.
The DA briefed the media in Johannesburg following the Constitutional Court judgment that President Jacob Zuma violated the constitution by failing to comply with the Public Protector's remedial order to repay money spent on his Nkandla homestead.
Maimane said that he has already consulted with the Economic Freedom Fighters and plans to meet with other political leaders as well.
"We should have all, as South Africans, heeded the warnings when Jacob Zuma became quite adamant that he is above the constitution," Maimane said.
The DA is also calling for the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete to resign.
The Constitutional Court also hit out at the National Assembly saying it turned a blind eye to the constitution when setting aside the Public Protestor's report on Nkandla.
I never thought i would say this...Maimane is on point today #nkandlabacklash. He did his homework

So refreshing to see Mr. Maimane's and DA's naive belief that motions of no confidence or impeachment in parliament will make a difference.
