DA: Zuma owes SA R52.9m.
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
"Based on her [Public Protector Thuli Madonsela] report 'Secure in Comfort', the DA has calculated that the president is liable for at least an amount of R52.9m for the non-security upgrades to his private residence," he told reporters in Johannesburg.
The Democratic Alliance believed this was Zuma's personal liability which he unduly benefited from.
Maimane said this amount was the reasonable amount for Zuma to pay back.
About a year ago, Madonsela's report on the matter stated Zuma had unduly benefited from the non-security upgrades at his private Nkandla residence which amounted to R246m.
She recommended that Zuma pay back "a reasonable percentage of the cost".
