Date set for Oscar Pistorius' sentencing

Closing arguments in Oscar Pistorius' re-sentencing proceedings were delivered in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday, after the Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the athlete's culpable homicide conviction into one of murder.

Delivering his closing arguments, state prosecutor Gerrie Nel told the court that Pistorius has not shown any real remorse for the killing of Reeva Steenkamp.

Nel said the prescribed minimum sentence of 15 for murder would be appropriate.

"Real remorse would have been the accused taking the court into his confidence, telling the court 'why I fired those shots, why I acted in the way I did' so that the court can accept that. We don't have that," Nel said.

There was high drama earlier, when Oscar Pistorius showed a fully packed court house how he walks on his stumps.

Crying could be heard from the public gallery, as Pistorius defence attorney Barry Roux, delivered his final arguments.

"We are dealing with a person that is not like me. I don't want to overplay vulnerability. I don't want to overplay disability, but the time has come that we must just look with unbiased eyes," Roux said.

Judge Thokozile Masipa has also granted the application that a ban on some of the crime scene photos be lifted, following an application by the Steenkamp family.
