Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Day Zero - the day on which taps are set to run dry in Cape Town - has again been pushed back by month to 9 July.
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane's spokesperson, Portia Adams, says the party leader thanks the residents of Cape Town for playing their part.
"While we have not yet reached the target of 450 megalitres per day, we have together brought down our daily usage by three megalitres which is an encouraging step in the right direction. Over the past week, consumption has averaged 523 ML per day," says Adams.

Adams says private transport providers from Groenland whose contribution has helped push back Day 0.
She says businesses, as well the agriculture sector joined in cutting water usage to ensure that they do not run out of water.
Adams says the restrictions are still in place as they are not out of the danger zone as yet.
The Western Cape is currently experiencing its worst drought and in Cape Town, level 6 B water restrictions are in place.
