Johannesburg Emergency Services Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi says 36 people have been displaced.
"The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, we want to encourage residents throughout the city to look after any heating device, not to leave the heating devices unattended so that we can prevent these fire incidents during this cold front," says Mulaudzi.
He adds that emergency services remain on stand-by while the SA Weather Service forecasts that the bitterly cold conditions will continue until at least Monday.
