Death toll from KZN storms rises to 14

At least fourteen people have died after a tornado, thunderstorms and heavy downpours hit several areas of KwaZulu-Natal.
At least fourteen people have died, 19 others injured and 798 households affected by the adverse weather conditions in the province.
The Provincial Executive Council of KwaZulu-Natal said on Wednesday that it is still quantifying the damaged caused.
The disaster incidents were experienced in several areas, including eThekwini, Abaqulusi, Jozini, uMgungundlovu, uMzinyathi, Ilembe, Harry Gwala and uThukela.
Relief efforts and mop-up operations are in full swing.
Food, blankets, mattresses and other urgent necessities have been provided to affected residents.
The provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs’ spokesperson Lennox Mabaso says residents will be supplied with temporary IDs, while the social security agency SASSA will also be on the ground and pupils will be provided with uniforms.
