If I ask you to describe your heritage in only one word - what would it be?
The dictionary describes the word heritage as "something that is handed down from the past, as a tradition: a national heritage of honour, pride, and courage".
South Africans celebrate that which has been given to us from past generations with a long week end.
Heritage Day is celebrated on 24 September.
Many see their heritage as a mix pot of influences from different cultures, lifestyles and times in history.
If I ask you to describe your heritage in only one word - what would it be?
To some it comes instantly, others simply cannot express it without having to use a sentence.
However you pay homage on Sunday, whoever you choose to share your heritage with, in which ever way - may it not be just another Sunday paving the way for a Monday off and an unexpected long weekend.
Do we guard our heritage with Honour?
Do we recognise it with Pride?
Will we defend it with Courage?
