Pharmacy chain Dis-Chem has apologised for its display of a blackface mannequin.
Dis-Chem has apologised to South Africans for “experiencing an unauthorised display” during a beauty campaign.
The mannequin was on display at a branch at the Killarney Mall in Johannesburg.

“We strongly condemn any kind of affiliation with the blackface,” says managing director Lynette Saltzman.
Social media users were fuming on Friday afternoon after a picture of the doll was widely shared.
The doll is dressed in African-print clothing and sandals and put on display in an apparent African beauty campaign.
Saltzman says the mannequin was immediately removed and a probe launched.
“However, we do believe that this was an isolated incident with no malice or disrespect intended.”
Saltzman vows that corrective action will be taken against the parties following the conclusion of the investigation.
