Disabled man appears for cocaine smuggling
Updated | By Staff Writer
A man allegedly found in possession of cocaine with an estimated street value of R350,000 at OR Tambo International Airport appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
The case against Nico Jansen van Vuuren, 46, was postponed until March 28 for further investigation, Hawks spokesman Paul Ramaloko
said.
The 46-year-old wheelchair-bound man was arrested minutes after he arrived in the country from Dubai at 10.30am on Tuesday, Ramaloko said.
Two packets of cocaine were allegedly found in the back pockets of each of nine pairs of jeans in the man's suitcase.
"The man is a regular traveller and he is believed to be part of a bigger syndicate with international links dealing in drugs," Ramaloko said at the time.
