Minitstry of Women to revisit law to protect women
Minister of Women Bathabile Dlamini says the department will revisit the Sexual Offences Act, as well as the domestic violence and criminal procedures acts in order to strengthen laws that protect women.
Dlamini was speaking at a briefing in Port Elizabeth where she was addressing the public cry over advocate Peter Dauberman’s line of questioning to a witness in the Timothy Omotoso rape and human trafficking trial.

The defence advocate has come under scrutiny for his line of questioning to the first state witness, Cheryl Zondi.
She said the cross-examination of victims of sexual crimes should not be a platform used by legal practitioners to enforce secondary trauma.
"We believe the advocates conduct was an over reach and we’ll be consulting the bar council of advocates to address this. The law must be proactive to victims and survivors in its processes.”
She says they will be visiting the departments of home affairs and international relations to discuss the controversial pastor’s immigration status.
