WATCH: Donald Sebolai to be sentenced in March
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Former Radio presenter and convicted murderer Donald Sebolai will be sentenced on 4 March.
The High Court sitting in Palm Ridge heard final arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentence Thursday morning.
Sebolai was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala in his Soweto flat in 2014.
The defence argued that Sebolai was not a danger to society, that he was a first time offender and that he was unlikely to commit the crime again.
However, the State argued that Sebolai's history showed that he had a high propensity for violence and hasn't displayed any genuine remorse.
State prosecutor Elise Le Roux told the court that only a cold blooded killer could mop the floor while Tshabalala bled to death
Le roux said Sebolai's sentence needs to send a message that this kind of violence would not be tolerated in South Africa.
