Drop in fuel price to bring relief for motorists
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The price of fuel is set to drop significantly on Wednesday.
The decrease will bring some relief to cash-strapped South Africans.
The Department of Energy has confirmed that the price of petrol will drop by 30 cents a litre, while diesel will be between 17 cents a litre cheaper.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will drop by 26 cents a litre.
The department says the main reasons for the drop in the fuel price is a stronger rand.
"The Brent Crude oil price however went the opposite direction. It was cushioned by the strengthening of the Rand. If the Brent Crude oil stabilised we could have seen the prices dropping more by 50 cents per litre," says senior manager for fuel pricing, Robert Maake.
