Kamesh police spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, Andre Beegte, says the 19-year-old handed himself over to police

“The 19-year-old suspect was arrested after he handed himself over to police last night.”

Beegte says the woman was killed in the early hours of 11 October at the boyfriend’s house.

“His 16-year-old girlfriend, who lives in Rosedale, was visiting him at the time. She was not seen again and on Monday, her parents opened a missing person file at Kamesh police station.”

The suspect also showed police police where he hid her body.

“The suspect handed himself over to police last night and pointed out that he buried her in the garden at his home in Bauhenia Crescent. Police then found her body in a shallow grave at that premises and the suspect was subsequently arrested for her murder,” Beetge says.

The man is set to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on Friday on a charge of murder.
