Eerste Fabriek flood victims to be relocated
The Gauteng government will relocate the victims of major floods which devastated the Eerste Fabriek informal settlement in Mamelodi.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura made the announcement while visiting the community on Wednesday.
Makhura visited the area on Wednesday afternoon after the recent heavy rain ravaged the informal settlement and left some 1000 people without a roof over their heads.
Although Makhura could not give an exact timeline as to when the families will be relocated, he assured residents it would be done before Christmas.
A total of 1300 people have been displaced in Tshwane as a result of the storms.
Victims have been given shelter at the Mamelodi Baptist Church, as well as the Nellmapius and Stanza Bopape community halls.
