EFF calls on contract workers to submit information
The Economic Freedom Fighters has called on contract workers who have been employed for more than three months to submit their information to the party.
"During his reply to the state-of-the-nation debate, President [Jacob] Zuma said it is illegal for workers to be employed on short-term contracts for more than three months," EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in a statement on Friday.
"The EFF therefore calls on workers in all sectors to submit information so that on 11 March 2015 during the presidential question session, Zuma can account as to why workers are still under short-term contracts for more than three months."
During his reply on Thursday to the state-of-the-nation debate in Parliament, Zuma told MPs that in terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Labour Relations Act all workers would be employed permanently, and temporary work contracts would not exceed three months.
Ndlozi said the EFF would be visiting some businesses to make sure workers were permanently employed.
