EFF calls for Senona arrest following Madlanga revelations

The EFF has called for the arrest of KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Lesetja Senona amid allegations of misconduct.
The top policeman appeared before the commission last month to address allegations of improper ties with Vusi “Cat” Matlala, an alleged organised crime figure.
He has strongly rejected claims that he assisted Matlala in securing a R360-million SAPS tender or shared sensitive police information.
EFF leader Julius Malema briefed the media in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
“The EFF reiterates its call for the immediate arrest and investigation of Major-General Senona and all others implicated, and to ensure that no one is above the law, regardless of position.”
The red berets also called for the interim report of the Madlanga Commission to be made public.
The report includes the names of five senior-ranking SAPS members and nine Ekurhuleni municipal officials who need to be investigated.
“We also call for the full publication of the interim report so that the public can see the case for themselves and engage meaningfully in the fight against corruption and criminality,” Malema said.
President Cyril Ramaphosa accepted the commission’s interim report last week, endorsing its recommendations and referrals for immediate criminal investigation and urgent prosecutorial action.
The report was submitted in December last year, in line with the president's timelines.
Several senior law enforcement and municipal officials, including Senona, have already been referred for investigation.
