EFF orders its members to return to Clicks stores

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leadership has ordered its members to continue shutting down Clicks stores nationwide following a racially insensitive ad campaign.

The health and beauty retailer has come under fire for labelling black peoples’ hair as “dry, damaged, frizzy and dull” and white peoples’ hair as “normal” in an ad campaign.
On Monday, Clicks stores across the country were barricaded by EFF members - including Mall of the North in Limpopo, Sandton City and Mall of Africa in Gauteng.
Clicks has since offered an unreserved apology, saying it is reviewing all third party and own generated promotional material.
Two staff members have also been suspended.
The company who placed the ad on the Clicks website, TRESemmé, has also apologised.
During his address in Mall of the North in Limpopo, the EFF leader Julius Malema said the party is no longer going to accept any apology which is not accompanied by justice.
"We need justice, not an apology, who is punished for projecting black people as ugly? we want someone to be held accountable, someone must lose their position we don't care whether it is a white or black person.
We are saying to Clicks South Africa if you want peace, close your shops until Friday or suspend the people who were involved in projecting black people as ugly," said Malema.

"Tomorrow all of us in the morning we are reporting to the nearest clicks store to make sure that all clicks stores in South Africa remain closed.
Ours is a peaceful protest, let us all remain disciplined but in the incident of provocation and intimidation, fighters defend yourself," says Dlamini.
He asked members of the public to notify them of any Clicks store that are operating.
"Workers and customers of Clicks, thank you for your cooperation. Members of the public please notify us through social media of any Clicks storea that are operating," adds Dlamini.
