[LISTEN] EFF: Ramaphosa is manipulative
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has described President
Cyril Ramaphosa's new cabinet as "dishonest."
The President announced his cabinet on at the Union Building in Pretoria late Wednesday night.
"Ramaphosa as a dishonest, manipulative person whose cabinet decision is an absolute insult to the intelligence of the country," is the EFF's reaction in a statement released shortly after the announcement.
The EFF says the first indication of the president's dishonesty is the reduction of the ministerial post; however, at the same time he has increased the number of deputy ministers.
"The point of the call for the reduction of the cabinet has always been about saving taxpayers money. This objective is not achieved when a number of deputy ministers has been considerably increased whilst reducing the cabinet."
The party rejects the re-appointment of Pravin Gordhan as Public Enterprises Minister.
"The re-appointment of Gordhan means Ramaphosa has no regard for the remedial action and reports of the Chapter 9 constitutional institution and decisions of the constitutional court. In fact, the appointment of Gordhan is irrational and clearly unconstitutional."
