EFF denies Ndlozi ‘barred’ from conference

EFF leader Julius Malema laid down the law on Sunday as the party prepares to elect new leaders at its national conference in December.

Malema addressed the Gauteng Provincial General Assembly -  warning those who are campaigning to stick to the party rules and guidelines.

He emphasised that using social media to promote specific candidates is prohibited.

The remarks could be seen as a warning to those who have been active on social media lobbying for Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to contest the position of deputy president at the upcoming conference.

Malema condemned the use of social media to attack the organisation or advance individual ambitions, reiterating the importance of unity and discipline within the party.

“Leaking confidential information to the media, secret interactions with journalists with the intention to write stories on internal organisational issues, and communicating internal decisions or processes to the media without due authorisation constitutes wrongful lobbying practice.

Negative campaigning, which leads to the attacks of other comrades both within the structures of the movement and in other forums, is not allowed,” said Malema.

Malema also spoke up against the use of violence and intimidation against anyone who hold a different view.

“Setting up structures outside the organisation to promote or lobby for a particular candidate. Convening meetings to discuss leadership issues under the false pretext that they are organised constitutional structures.

“And production and distribution of documents and pamphlets not approved by structures of the organisation will not be allowed,” he said.

Malema urged members nominated for leadership positions in the central command tam must discourage anyone from using their names to campaign for leadership positions.

“If you keep quiet when your name is used to undermine and divide the integrity of our organisation, your name shall be disqualified from contesting from any position in the organisation,” he warned.

When people do wrong things in your name, you must be able to stand up and say, ‘Not in my name’,” he said.

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi sidelined?

The party dismissed reports that MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been barred from attending the conference.

EFF Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini labelled the reports as “a misleading attempt to defocus the party”.

Dlamini spoke to the media on the sidelines of the Provincial General Assembly in East London on Sunday.

“We’ve got 2,500 delegates that are coming. If you want me to give you the list  … because I can’t speak on behalf of someone … I think it’s an unfair question.

“If I can ask you is your colleague going to be at work today? What if he is not there? You are going to come back to me and say this  is what you said.

“I don’t know! We are going to a conference with 2,500 delegates who are sitting, and Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is a member of the central command team.

“So, as a member of the central command team, it’s our conference. Everyone is going to be there,” said Dlamini.
