End of the road for Oscar Pistorius
Updated | By ANA
SA’s highest court has denied paralympian Oscar Pistorius leave to appeal his murder conviction, the country’s National Prosecuting Authority said on Thursday.
“We can confirm that the Constitutional Court has denied his [Pistorius’s] appeal due to the lack of prospects of success,” said NPA spokesman Luvuyo Mfaku.
“We welcome the decision as we’ve always maintained that his application for leave to appeal is entirely without merit.”
South Africa’s Constitutional Court was the last resort for the Paralympian to stay out of jail for the 2013 kiling of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
The Constitutional Court ruling means Pretorius will have to present himself to the high court in Pretoria next month for sentencing.
“On the 18th of April, he will appear in court and sentencing procedures will carry on,” said Mfaku.

Pretorius lodged his application for leave to appeal earlier this year after a decision by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) on December 3 last year to overturn his 2014 conviction of culpable homicide.
Just days after the SCA ruling, the high court in Pretoria released him on R10,00 bail, ordered that he be electronically monitored, and only be allowed to travel within a 20-kilometre radius of his uncle’s mansion in Waterkloof, Pretoria.
Pretorius had been living with his uncle since his release from prison in October last year after serving less than a year of his five year sentence for culpable homicide – the charge on which he was originally convicted.
