Eskom agrees to take 0% 'off the table'
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
The Public Enterprises minister has convened a meeting between the power utility and three unions to discuss the wage dispute.
After a number of workers declared a wage dispute with Eskom, the power utility has agreed to return to the negotiating table, amid the return of load-shedding.
Unions have agreed to "normalise operations immediately" to prevent further power interruptions, which the power utility claims was brought on through sabotage by striking workers.
The parties have been involved in a blame game since pickets on Thursday led to the power utility implementing controlled power interruptions for the first time since 2015.
Unions have strongly rejected the accusations with Numsa calling on Eskom to provide evidence of sabotage.

Minister Pravin Gordhan met with the Eskom board and unions NUM, Numsa, Solidarity on Friday.
The parties agreed to resume with wage talks immediately and agreed that the "0% offer from Eskom is off the table", and also to restore production to ensure stable electricity supply.
Eskom warned of further interruptions through the weekend, not only because of disruptions, but also partly due to a higher demand due to a cold front moving over Gauteng.
