Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Power utility Eskom has agreed to terminate its control and instrumentation contract for the Kusile Power Station.
Alstom designs, installs, manufactures and services power transmission and distribution products.
"Eskom Holdings and Alstom have consensually terminated the control and instrumentation works contract for Kusile Power Station, effective as of 17 April 2015," Eskom said in a statement.
Kusile is expected to be synchronised in 2017 with 800 megawatts of electricity.
Eskom says Alstom will continue to supply the Medupi Power Station.
Meanwhile, rating agency Standard and Poor's slashed Eskom's credit ratings on Thursday to non-investment grade.
