Relief for South Africans, at least for now, with Eskom vowing to keep the lights on over the festive season.
Eskom says the probability of loadshedding is expected to remain low until January 13.
"Eskom has not implemented loadshedding in four consecutive days.
"This is as a result of the expected decrease in demand as businesses and industries close down for the festive break," says spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe.
However, Eskom warns that heavy rains between December and March could have an impact it coal.
"While we do not anticipate load-shedding we continue to warn customers that as the system remains vulnerable, any shift could increase the probability of load-shedding. Eskom will communicate if there is a change," adds Phasiwe.
The country was plunged into a panic mode, when Eskom earlier announced it could not guarantee that it would be able to keep the lights on throughout the festive season.
The power utility has also requested a R100 billion government bailout to deal with its crippling debt.
