Eskom warns of increased possibility of load shedding
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Eskom has warned of an increased possibility of rolling blackouts on Thursday due to a technical glitch at Medupi.

The power utility had earlier said that it was not planning to implement load shedding on Thursday.
But in a statement on Thursday morning, Eskom said a conveyer belt feeding coal into the Medupi generation units failed.
"While Eskom teams are working round the clock to repair the conveyor belt, which is expected to take the better part of the day, any further breakdown elsewhere in the generation fleet would necessitate the implementation of stage 2 load shedding at short notice," said spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
"Eskom will continue to communicate should there be any further changes as the system remains unreliable and vulnerable."
